Optimizing the MacBook Neo
Legal studies require processing thousands of pages of high-density text. Your MacBook Neo is an incredible tool, but its unique A18 Pro architecture and asymmetrical ports require a specific setup to prevent eye strain and ensure hardware compatibility.
Step 1: The "Hinge Rule"
The MacBook Neo has two USB-C ports on the left side, but they are not identical. Connecting your monitor to the wrong port will result in no video signal or a notification from macOS.
REAR PORT (Hinge Side)
USB 3.0 (10 Gbps) + DisplayPort Alt Mode. Use this for your Monitor.
FRONT PORT (Trackpad Side)
USB 2.0 (480 Mbps). Use this for charging, mouse, or keyboard only.

Why "4K" is Mandatory for Law
In 2026, macOS no longer supports "Subpixel Antialiasing." This means that on a standard 1440p monitor, the fine serifs of judicial texts will look blurry and jagged.
A 4K monitor triggers HiDPI Mode, using four physical pixels for every one logical pixel. This creates "Retina" clarity that is essential for long reading sessions.
